NOT YET!!!!!

What is it with everyone in the northern hemisphere bloggisphere waxing poetic about autumn??? There are still ELEVEN days of summer left on the calendar. If I have to look out the window at snow drifts when the weatherman declares it is spring, I'll be darned if I am going to give up summer when the air is still warm enough to do without a parka and moon boots. Eleven more official days of green grass, fresh roses, corn on the cob, watermelon, sand between the toes and birds singing. Never mind that a frost took out the zuchinni (that was a good thing, really) and the leaves on the trees are looking less green every day. I am not giving up my summer just because the kids have gone back to school. ELEVEN MORE DAYS. You colored leaf, long shadow, pumpkin people give it a rest! Whheew, I feel better. :D

  2. Queen of De Nile! It IS autumn no matter what your optomistic calendar says- calendars also have idealic pictures of far away places that may not exist - calendars lie!Time to make winter plans for a trip to the sun!

  3. I'm hanging on as long as possible too. I refuse to acknowledge that one branch in my maple that has started to change colour.

  4. I'm really sorry, but I'm from California, and we just don't get fall like out here in WI or most of the US for that matter. I'm excited and am excited every day that I see more colors in the leaves and in the trees...Ok last year in California leaves stayed on trees almost all year, I think it was Early December and we still had leaves on trees. Yes there are trees that turn colors, but not like here that is for sure.

Now I've been told, once the freezing nights come the leaves turn fast and fall fast leaving nothing but brown braches and trunks. Well I've never experienced that; however, I really do hope they last till October when Peak Season of the fall colors is supposed to arrive. That is when I have a week vacation, and plan to go sight seeing and take lots of pictures of fall colored leaves and scenery. That gives us 4 more weeks of color! Aren’t you sick of green yet :-)

All around here I see nothing but green, I love color and this is not a moment too soon for me....when I walk my dog and see very colorful leaves on the ground, it makes me smile…..
And I can’t wait till the first snow fall either….ha! so there :-)

  5. Laura: You have never been trapped inside your house for months by snow that threatens to eat your car and icicles that hang across your windows like prison bars. Thank heavens for skis. Autumn yes! But it always leads to too much winter here.

  6. Remind me of what I said come January and February, about how excited I am about the first snow fall. hehe I'm sure by then, I'll know what it's like to experience a NON California Winter...and might have something more to stay about that then...

    have a great weekend...
