The reason Easter Eggs are colored---
So you can find them in the snow.
This information was given to me a few years ago by a wise young man named Andrew.
Colored eggs will be essential this year as well. Over an inch of snow fell overnight and more is predicted for tomorrow. The calendar may say it is spring. The calendar may say it is Easter. But we haven't put our snow shovels and ice melt away yet.
coloured eggs in the snow - very pretty! Easy to hide too, you may not find them until the thaw...how much winter is enough? More snow...Good thing the bunny has a fur coat!
ReplyDeleteAt least our snow didn't linger - although they were glad to see it further north, where the ski resorts have had their best season for years (even when there was so much snow the roads were closed!)
ReplyDeleteLove the photo. Chocolate eggs outside here would melt, we are having record high temperatures. 80F/27C + yesterday. Paul wanted to find some tomatoes to plant.Truly! I am not expecting this weather to last but I'm enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo - just think how much you will appreciate the spring when it does come!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful eggs - did you colour them yourself? I've never understood the thing about using real eggs for Easter hunts. I mean, once you have found them, what do you do? Eat them? Are they hardboiled or still raw or do you blow out the eggy bits? I think I prefer chocolate eggs. Okay, they are not necessarily pretty, but you can eat them. (I think I have a bit of a problem. I can't stop thinking about food! And chocolate. Maybe because our weather is getting cooler?) PS I really enjoyed the BC strip below. I think I'll take neither, just give me the health insurance plan!
ReplyDeleteOh I do like this!
ReplyDeleteAt least they wont melt. My Very Large Egg rolled into a patch of sun on the table and was promptly unable to hold itself up!
Pretty eggs and very sound advice! I feel like it's still winter here too although we do not have any snow - just grey and wet and chilly - so I should not be complaining... I guess no packing away the thermals yet then! Is this the longest winter in the history of the entire world?!?! It feels like it some days, doesn't it? 'Specially weird when I see that some people in our hemisphere are definitely enjoying Spring and even Summer! Check this out but, be warned, it gave me severe season-envy!

that sounds pretty true. if our eggs hadn't been bright pink and green we never would have found them in our bramble of an orchard.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to Spring? I think that's what we really need to be on the hunt for!
