FINISHING MY WATERCOLOR SKETCHES

They're just sketches. That means " hasty or undetailed drawing or painting often made as a preliminary study."  But  I didn't even finish them.  Until now.

Okay, the Jersey cow was done.  She was fun with all her big eyes and white nose and suntanned sides.

I was playing with contrasting lights and darks with the hens.
Still trying to not get caught up in all the details of the Plymouth Rock's black and whites.

I started on the little goat, but got carried away with the background.
It got so soggy I had to let it dry.
The sketch remained uncompleted until just a few days ago.

So I went to work on Stella's Boat.
But it soon looked like it had sprung a leak and was going under fast.
I finally fixed it the other day.

  1. Gosh, you're a talented artist, Leenie! I am always in awe of those who work beautifully with watercolors because they are so difficult to deal with (I tried and soon gave up and stick with acrylics, pastels or charcoals). I can't pic a favorite, because they are all amazing. You captured the Jersey cow's eyes so perfectly and I love the goat - it's sassy!

  6. Wow - I had no idea you were a watercolor artist! They are just wonderful. I could enjoy having those chickens in my house. Or any of the others, come to think of it . . . watercolor is one of my last frontiers. Don't know when or if I'll embark on that journey.

  9. The paintings are beautiful, of course, but I've always known what a talented watercolor artist you were. What I really love is the fact that you finished sketches which you had ignored or set aside. Inspiring. Thank you.
