A TRIBUTE TO KINKADE

This is the only piece of his art I own. "The Light of Peace" lighthouse.
I inherited it from my mother.

When I checked on this little pre-lit sculpture
it was being attacked by dinosaurs.
(grandkids)

Rest in peace Thomas Kinkade, "The painter of Light."

  2. I thought the dino's were really part of the sculpture for a few moments there -- and it seemed perfectly normal. Aw, it's lovely.

  3. The thing I liked most about Thomas Kinkade is that he had the audacity to give himself a title like "Painter of Light." Gotta love that. Can't argue with an artist who figures out how to be a commercial success, however...I suppose he can call himself whatever he likes.

  4. Susan: I totally agree. He's known for taking: "If you've got it, flaunt it" and "Pander to the masses" to the max. May he rest in peace and get an opportunity to continue to paint. But if all our sunsets, gardens and spring evenings start to look alike I'm going to be ticked.

  5. When we went to Maui when Erik was a little kid- there was a Kinkade gallery which had a "LIGHT" room...It was carefully lit to really show off the dimension of light tricks KinKade seemed to have mastered- the gallery guy said something about "Rembrandt" and his ability to do light tricks with paint...Erik shouted "OH! This is painted with TOOTH PASTE?"
Never too keen on his work but I do use Rembrant toothpaste...

  6. ...And that explains Linda Sue's beautiful, light filled smile.

  7. If he'd have painted a few with Dinosaurs rampaging through poignantly lit English Gardens, I might have bought one.

  8. I'm glad you did this post. He was really good and he turned his love of light into a household word.
