RANDOM SHOTS

Canada geese remind me of...

this painting by Da Vinci

Crows have been seen putting nuts on a highway to be cracked by
passing vehicles.  The birds are so intelligent that they placed the
nuts only under the wheels of smaller cars, as prior experiences proved
that by setting them under a bigger car, there are slight chances
to find the kernel.

A finch photo I took when I should have been working
on other stuff.

According to eHow cottontail rabbits can run at speeds up to 18 mph
and are also good swimmers.

The new crop of squirrels in our neighborhood
are becoming more bold as they gain size.

This one climbed up to the window trying to get to the bird feeder.
He didn't make it, but he cleaned out the seeds scattered on the ledge.
Minus the one that stuck to his nose.

Or maybe he wanted to watch Rocky and Bullwinkle on our television.

Or maybe he was just looking in my window because he saw a nut.

Fun info:  Cigarettes are like squirrels.  They are perfectly harmless
until you put one in your mouth and light it on fire.

    Love.

And crows using moving vehicles as nutcrackers? :-) That's awesome.

  3. I love these random shots! The squirrel ones are especially funny! Cheeky things. The rabbit is very sweet-and surprisingly fast. I liked your comparison of the geese and the painting-the same elegant shapes and contrasts.

  5. I hope the cigarette/squirrel comparison is not from direct evidence.

  10. You always let us see wildlife as they are...not how we think they are. Thanks for a great post!

  11. That last squirrel picture - I've seen the same look on an aged relative when I gave her a "too much information" story. She had a food particle under her nose too- at least I think it was a food particle.

  12. So glad I caught this. LOLOLOL! I didn't know cotton-tails could swim. Well I never! Yep, that squirrel is hilarious. Brave little guy, eh.

The intelligence of crows is fascinating. Quite humbling for us humans.
