How
cold is it? So cold I had to use my hair
dryer to thaw out the aluminum window frame so I could open the window to get to the bird feeder.
So
cold it was frosted and icicled.
That’s
right, seven degrees Fahrenheit, or minus 14 Celsius: a bit frosty.
The
finches were glad to get a free breakfast.
An
Oregon Junco was next in line.
There are always chickadees.
I
finally found a name for this little guy.
They come and go so fast I’ve had a hard time getting a clear
photo. At first I thought it was some
kind of warbler or wren. But now I’ve
figured out it is red-breasted nuthatch.
Of
course we have a plethora of sparrows (aka flying pigs) visiting the bird
feeder.
And
the squirrels clean up the left-overs underneath.
Still,
for all the frigid temps, construction continues across the street.
But
they’re using a gas heater to warm things up before they go to work.
That is COLD!!! - at 5:30 this morning I went for a walk and was thinking how hot and humid today is going to be, although it is only expected to get to 29 (that is 84 in your money)

ReplyDeleteWow here in Canada we used to have fun weather like that and all the surprises and joys and headaches it brings. Now we have mud and pouring rain. It is like living in the tropics :) Hug B

the flag banner makes it look like a party. Um, 7 degrees is too cold in case you wanted to know.The older I get the colder I get - I am no longer enthralled by ice and snow.Birds and squirrels can do it, their life span is about five minutes compared to ours. Nice photos anyway.

7 degrees? That's just wrong. Way too cold for this cold weather wimp! It's been unseasonably warm here, and Jim thinks it could actually go down as the warmest December on record. It's to be in the 60's or 70's again this week!
