FOR BRIAN

The Soul that rises with us, our life's Star,
     Hath had elsewhere its setting,
          And cometh from afar:
     Not in entire forgetfulness,
     And not in utter nakedness,
But trailing clouds of glory do we come
From God, who is our home.
William Wordsworth

 B.C.C. February 14, 1953- January 19, 2010
watercolor 13x20 inches on Arches 140 cold press

Oh heart, if one should say to you that the soul perishes like the body,
answer that the flower withers, but the seed remains.
Kahlil Gibran

  2. Brian is my brother who passed away a year ago from cancer. We miss him. A lot. But he left a wonderful legacy.

  4. What a lovely memorial, Leenie. I'm sure it's been a hard year for your family. I hope every day is a little brighter.

  5. I read somewhere that the first anniversary is a large milestone in grief ...... when you can no longer say 'this time last year', when you have had the first birthday, first Christmas etc without the loved one. I found it to be true, and I hope that for you it will ease the pain a little. Love, Anne
    ps, the painting is beautiful

  7. Dear Leenie- so sorry Brian left so soon- leaves such an emptiness here on this plane of existence- who knows for sure what goes on from here, no body- I am comforted in my own belief that we must continue at some level and maybe it is just that- the seeds we leave behind. Sorry about your Brian.

  8. Leenie, I'm sorry for the loss of your brother. I lost my oldest brother, Peter, to cancer 8 years ago in May and I miss him everyday. The quote by Kahlil Gibran is so beautiful...

What a stunning painting. You're very very talented.

  9. I thinks that:
Even if one died, but one's seed(memory) remains forever in others's soul, and the seed(memory) shall sprout hopes like various flowers.

  10. So sad indeed. They say you die twice, first when you actually die and then finally when all the people who have actually know you die.
Your choices of poems are wonderful.
I wish your brother were still here.
