MORE FROM MY SKETCH BOOK

I was standing on the side of the road taking pictures of a pasture full of horses when a battered pickup came along and stopped beside me.  The driver was a lady who gave me a suspicious look and demanded to know why I was taking the photos .

I explained how I thought the horses were fine-looking animals, and I was shooting reference photos for some paintings I planned to do.  She questioned me a little further to make certain of my intentions.  I told her how I loved horses and was especially attracted to Appaloosas with their spotted hides.  We chatted a few more minutes and she asked if I was interested in buying one of her ponies.  I probably could have purchased one for a good price.  The rotten economy makes it difficult for horse owners too.

What's the suspicious attitude about? Afraid that you are going to post photos of her horses for horse porn or something? If they were children and she offered one for sale you might have said yes...but horses, well, good for sucking your pockets dry...I suppose if times got real tough you could have them for dinner . Hmmm perhaps you should reconsider that offer...Your paintings are , of course, beautiful, spirited, wonderful, LOVE love LOVE!

Gorgeous artwork, Leenie! Horses are so beautiful - there's something so amazing about their lines. You captured that so beautifully.

Dang it! You could have had a pony? And you walked away? What the heck?!?

Love your artwork, woman. :)

More beautiful sketches!
As a former horse owner I would have been suspicious too. Some folks like to feed horses that don't belong to them and the horses end up sick.

Beautiful pictures Leenie. I read where many horses in Ireland have been abandoned because of the recession and how many will starve over the winter unless they are given a new home. It is so sad.

I think Russ Linbaugh statement: "Talent on loan from God" fits you so much better.

You are very, very good!

I totally agree with you.
I love beautiful and lovable horses, but I can not keep them.
This is all I can feed cats and a dog. Uo・ェ-oU ヾ(=゚・゚=)ノ
I'm happy to enjoy your artfully-painted pictures.

I love this watercolor. I wish I would someday feel the color as you do.
