DIVE INTO SUMMER

We spent the afternoon down by the river.
There's a place set aside for swimming and diving.

A perfect way to cool off from the heat.

Get wet.

Hang out with your brothers.

Get brave.

Show off.

Make a splash.

Look better than a mermaid.

Twin S. working up courage to dive into Daddy's arms.

Adjusting the goggles to buy more time.

Go!

Whew! Made it.

Little brother needs no persuasion.

Twin A. takes her turn.

And a quick swim to shore.

And now a short video of a grandson and then his dad,
trying out for the Olympic Diving Team--yeah.

ILLUMINATION--Inside Passage part 9

A good vacation usually means no alarm clocks, sleeping in, and no leaving the comfort of bed until the bladder threatens to rebel.  But there are also sunrises.

There are early mornings when water is a gentle mirror.

Fog floats, settles and placidly rolls through silence broken only by the soft sound of bird calls.

I was pulled out of bed almost as much by the scent of cinnamon rolls baking in the galley as by the desire to see dawn arrive above the islands.

As light eased into the sky, ribbons of mist wove through the cedars.

Hooray for digital cameras and almost unlimited quantities of photographs.  The regrets come later at editing time.
