CHANNELING ENERGY

The good news is:  it’s not emergency surgery so I’ve had time to prepare.  The bad news is:  I’ve had way, way too much time to think about it.   Weeks ago I made a routine visit to my doctor. She found lumps upstairs and downstairs.  I’ve been in and out of medical places getting things checked out ever since.

The good news was:  nothing malignant that required immediate attention.  The plan became corrective surgery to repair and prevent suspicious things from becoming worse. Surgery was scheduled for last Tuesday until the surgeon decided I needed to clean out my sewer system so he could check out the reason for a positive test result.  Somehow I knew he was looking for ghosts.  He was surprised when I didn’t come unglued with the good news that everything was healthy; although very much in need of renovation.

The good news is:  anxiety for me results in nervous energy.  The important thing is to channel this energy.  Today I scrubbed floors.  I washed and bleached all four pillows for our bed.  I washed my favorite Egyptian cotton sheets.  I laundered my favorite fuzzy blankey and just about anything else that would fit in the washer.

Since I will be spending most of Monday in the bathroom (AGAIN!),

I really scrubbed it down---with a toothbrush.
I just made sure it wasn’t MY toothbrush.

Note to self:   remove all body piercings. Wear clean underwear.

I’m putting myself in quarantine to avoid contact with snotty kids and also to avoid having to explain how my surgery was postponed for a week.  I think I’ll spend Sunday studying scriptures about “cleansing the inner vessel.”

You are in my best healing thoughts and prayers. I hope all goes swimmingly and you are back romping in the glory of springtime.

I have both knees replaced on the 30th of this month. I know what you mean about presurgery thoughts. They are now coming in my dreams. Egad. I think I have a really good attitude and know I will heal well and soon. But still, these random thoughts.........

GL to you.

It will soon be done! It sounds a good idea to keep busy. I am glad you used someone else's toothbrush too-that's always best!

My Mum always told me to wear clean undies in case I got knocked down - so of course I would wear nice clean ones for a scheduled visit to hospital ..... but it makes you wonder what sort of state people turn up in if they have to tell you to arrive clean in body and underwear!

We're all with you - off for a procedure myself soon It is never a nice thought even though you know it is just routine for the medical teams. Very best wishes.

I'm so glad to hear that you are all right. You were in our prayers.
Hmm you seem to have mastered a more healthy way to deal with nervous energy. I will have to take notes and follow your example. I usually channel it by eating more sugar then an entire football team would in one sitting, and then collapse into a sugar coma.

Good luck Leenie! This too will pass...and what delightfully fresh laundered linen you'll be relaxing in afterwards. Four Spring-fresh pillows too! There's something to be said for the rocket-fuel of nervous energy.Sending love, and thoughts of happy healing your way.xxx

Poor old you!
This sucks. Obviously you need to heed your doctors' advice

but don't let them get too excited and order more tests than you need.
Sending lots of love in your direction........

and yes, CLEAN is definitely good.

All that inner cleansing sounds like the worst part.
Keep up your sense of humor and your clean underwear. Hope it all goes well.

Good luck, Leenie! You'll be back in that sparkling clean bed before you know it . . . and then you should be good for at least another 20 years before they want to do something else that's nasty to you. As my mother has always said, "After 50 it's a laugh a minute." Thanks for giving us a little chuckle (even though it comes from your misfortune!) We're all cheering for you!

Hey Leenie,
Thinking about you. I've had many similar problems in my history - breast cancer twice and surgeries too numerous to mention. Don't worry, you'll be out like a light and won't feel a thing. And yes, the drugs are (almost) worth it. Get lots of rest and enjoy your time of having everyone wait on you!
