CREATION

Samples of my artsy photography and others' philosophy about being artsy:
Many people hear voices when no one is there. Some of them are called mad and are shut up in rooms where they stare at the walls all day. Others are called writers and they do pretty much the same thing. Margaret Chittenden
Lesser artists borrow; great artists steal.  Igor Stravinsky

Good artists copy; great artists steal.  Pablo Picasso

Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal.  T.S. Elliot

A great artist is able to transform what he as received so significantly that it appears that he has produced something that did not exist before.  Ged Byrne

Every child is an artist.  The problems is how to remain and artist once we grow up.  Pablo Picasso

There is nothing new under the sun.  Proverbs 3:11

The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources. Albert Einstein

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.
Friedrich Nietzsche

Most of us enjoy making, creating, crafting, building, constructing.  It's in our nature.  Even if we follow another's design, what we make is original to us.

So much goodness in one blog! You have some of my favorite quotes here today, Leenie -- and you've added a few new ones from your notebook for me. Hope you don't mind if I'm taking notes (it seemed that you were an advocate of stealing . . .) Thanks for the fun and the eye candy!

it is so rewarding to turn ordinary objects into art, that's what you've done!!

Oh I really like this one. The quotes the pics excellent. I like the door knob the best I think, well I really love them all. VERY COOL!. I do think I am a (little?) insane. You and I are very similar scary isn't it? B

I love all the photos - especially the first one. I'm glad I'm not the only one that takes (strange) arty photos! I've been working on a baby shawl for a competition - then on Tuesday my friend announced that she is to be a great grandmother in January (despite being only 63!) .... so I have someone to give the shawl to, after it has hopefully done well in the competition!!

So much stealing... My mother asked me when I was 10 why I was so sad. I told her that it was because I had just realized that I would probably never have a completely original thought.

Beautiful images and quotes.

I love this post-and you artsy photos-your swan is amazing! I like all the qoutes-I only know a couple of those-interesting how they are so similar and people have been grappling with this idea and how to express it for so long. I agree with what you say at the end. It is weird to me when I meet someone who doesn't love to create in some way or another.

Haha. I got distracted with those quotes and had to go back and look at the photography (those first three quotes strung together are so funny!). That first image of the worn door...verrrrry pretty.
