POTATOES TO PALM TREES

For people whose normal view of airplanes is an occasional fly-over by a crop duster---

---this is a very big airplane.  It went really fast.  It took us a little under two hours to travel from Idaho

--to the infamous LAX airport in Los Angeles, California; a distance of a little over seven hundred miles.

The trip was without excitement or incident, just the usual crowd of bored humans in a very small space trying to ignore each other.  The children were the only ones wise enough to scream at such an insane situation.

Travel  on the ground was similar, only people were wrapped in metal automobiles still pretending to ignore each other.

Then suddenly the hurtling stopped and a highway patrol car zipped by on the shoulder of the freeway.

Even the important people in the limousine ahead of us couldn't buy a fast way to their fancy place.

The creeping, congested traffic allowed us to get a look at---

---the unfolding of someone’s really bad day.

A plethora of emergency vehicles had already found their way to the clog in the artery.

It took us a little under two hours to travel from the airport to the home of our son and his family, a distance of around forty miles.  Welcome to California!

I was wondering where you were! LA- geez! All of the other disasters that played in my mind pale...Glad you are well and among the living still...the living who ignore one another is better i suppose than the living who are in your bidniz all the time.
Find some fresh air (haha) and a quiet lovely beach (haha) Sunscreen also blocks out smog's chemical erosion, I've heard...Have a good huggy time with your boy.

I'm glad the flight was without incident. Nonstop flights are the only way to go!
I hope you have a nice visit with your son. :)

Oh my goodness - what a trip! Hopefully going back will be faster?
PS You are making me really nostalgic for the good ol' Simon & Garf!

That was EXTREME rubber-necking. :D That is so funny and so true, everywhere we go, people are pretending to ignore each other. I've gotten so sick of it around suburbia that I started bringing a book with me to pick Roz up from school and go to the park. I might as well embrace it and stop trying!

Wow, hope you're having a beauty time with your family!

Oh three cheers for family time the only reason to put yourself through the congestion on a busy highway.
Enjoy your time with your son. Take lots of photos I always wanted to see that part of your country but not drive there. After all we have Toronto to sit in traffic:) B

You have to wonder at these crazy accidents when conditions are good. Yeah, flying around in a metal tube might be insane, but it sure beats ground travel!

I've had issues with blogger so I'm hoping it will now behave and let me catch up on blogging!

Hope you have a lovely visit, Leenie!

and this doesn't make me want to go any time soon,
but I hope you had a nice visit!
