DH and friends left at six a.m. to go ice fishing in Montana. The temperature here this morning is minus 10 F (-23C) give or take a few double digit degrees. He was excited it would be much colder at the lake. Having a spouse who likes to ice fish is like having one who thinks he is a chicken. I'd tell him he's crazy but we like the eggs--or in DH's case--the trout.

ice fisherpeople are a whole different breed - since we come from the border of NW WI & NE MN, we are used to seeing people drag small CABINS out on the ice on the 10,000+ lakes out there...
they are... well, different! LOL
If they like frozen trout, can't they just buy them at the market?
I like trout too. Sometimes crazy is OK:) I always thought ice people were a little crazy. Sorry but it is true.
It was -19c here today so I went snowshoeing so everyone has some crazy. B
Crazy yes! But I suppose a tasty trout makes up for it. I only saw ice fishing on the Internet about a year ago and was amazed. Though the kind I saw involved little cozy huts. It is plus 10 degrees here at the moment so a little different! Hope he catches a big one. And I am not sure if I have wished you a happy new year yet so Happy new year!

Ah well, it takes all sorts to make the world - including barking mad people who choose to go out in the freezing cold!!

fishducky: There is nothing in the market which tastes as fine as a big wild trout that's been swimming in the clear icy water of a Montana lake.
Joanne: Yes, cleaning the fish--and filleting them--are all part of the package. He even grills them or breads and deep fries them. I'm not going to tell him he's demented.
It takes a real die-hard to fish in that kind of temperature! Glad they were successful!

ooooooh...bbbbrrrrrrrr....i like to go fishing. and i like the cold (well, maybe not THAT cold...)
but the 2 just don't go together in my head. i'd rather be at home by the fire & wait for the catch!!
i hope he comes home with a bunch!!
