THE LATEST DIRT

The crocuses are blooming!

The daffodils are poking out little green leaves.

So today I put on some shoes I haven’t worn since last fall
and went forth to dig in the garden.  I savored this chore
even more after remembering how a year ago at this time
I was recovering from surgery and spending my time watching
airplanes fly by my bedroom window.

It took most of the afternoon to clear the dead leaves and debris
so the baby tulips and other perennials could feel the sun.

My favorite gloves aren’t going to make it through another season.  This means another trip to the farm and ranch store.  Darn. (heh heh).  Maybe while I’m shopping I’ll check to see if there are bunnies and baby turkeys added to the cages full of baby chicks and ducks.

After hauling four or five wheelbarrow loads of stuff to the compost heap I went in the house, took off my garden shoes and, for the first time since last fall, I put on sandals. I also discovered I had sticks in my hair and a ladybug down my neck.

I took the ladybug back outside and then returned to the house
to make pies for Sunday dinner.

Gorgeous blooms, Leenie! And that ladybug photo is great! I think your poor gloves have served you well.

Lovely way to spend a day! And I love that the ladybug hitched a ride to see what was inside too. Perhaps she heard pie would be on the menu later...

I noticed that the local ads have Ladybug for the name of the company for pest control. That just seems [wrong].

I get the same way when I "need" to go to the IFA. Yeah for chicks!

What, no ladybug pie? You have some strange things growing in your garden.

Our spring is further advanced, with the daffodils in bloom. Malcolm has done a lot of the spring work, including painting the deck and the furniture .... but now the warm weather has gone, and snow is forecast!

I can't count how many gloves I go through during "Gardening Season" no matter what kind I buy. LOL

I've enjoyed your wonderful pictures!

Have a good week.

lol - sounds like the ladybug had a little adventure. :)

It's wonderful to see the sprouts, isn't it? Our daffies are out and our tulips are on their way, undeterred by the snow we had this past weekend and somehow dodging the hail.
