Just outside the
window over my desk is a row of crystal spikes.
Over the past
few days they have begun a sinister advance toward the thin pane of glass which
protects me from death as a result of exposure to winter conditions.
The icicles have
gradually morphed from ominous spears to sharp and curving claws drawing ever
nearer to the place where I work.
The rounded
shapes have become more menacing and blade-like...
…and are now so close they almost touch the
house.
Yesterday an
arctic front dropped down out of Canada Idaho
Icicles have
been known to kill people.
Just ask Ralphie.
If this blog becomes suspiciously silent over
the next few days please send hot chocolate and tickets to a Caribbean
beach.

I will have a hot chocolate waiting for you over here - or for a radical approach, we put our ice into cubes and add them to drinks!!

Looks like hell finally froze over and its fingers are creeping towards your Windows! I feel your pain...except our gang still has to go to school! Stupid treadmill morning!

Ah, it was all fun and games and giggles until someone's car got bashed by one of those tower icicles!
Was it the wind that blew your icicles together to form a 'hand'?
Criminologies...best wear a helmet when you go out and keep your eye on the sky. I'll take a snow day over an ice day anyday.
Those guys were cheering for the ice cycles! They are frightening! I took a picture of the curtain of ice on a building across the street. When I left work I glanced over, in time to see a six foot length slide off an fall.
I have that last one growing outside of my second-floor kitchen window. I keep thinking I should take pictures of it -- you know, before it drops and kills one of the downstairs renters...

Scary icicles!! Another piece of advice - never walk under a palm tree, as falling coconuts can kill you (I learned that when we lived in Indonesia!)
beautiful icy claws! Stuff of fairy tales, the scary kind. We have ice, but it is on the ground where it belongs sort of.. Our heater quit this morning, I have so many layers on right now I can not bend my arms, typing with a pencil in my teeth...Yep, it's a cold winter!
Well, you can always come to sunny Florida for a visit. Except its not sunny so much these days. And somebody left the door open on the north side and those arctic winds just come on to see us after leaving your house. Do the icicles indicate there was some wind with that weather? Stay warm, girl.
