A photo a day for thirty days.
The spring rain left a lot of nice puddles.
This killdeer is fluffing up and preparing to take a bath.
More fluffing and flapping of feathers. Nice fresh water, not much breeze.
Why the procrastination?
"This is April. That water's gonna be freekin' COLD!"

Mother, may I go and swim?
Yes, my darling daughter.
Hang your clothes on yonder limb,
But don't go near the water.

Cool bird, with the stripes it looks like a jailbird.
A bathing beauty.
Lovely pictures. And what a funny name the bird has. I have always wondered what it means.
Jenny: I think the name is derived from its call, kind of like kittiwakes and towhees. Killdeers are one of the first spring birds to arrive here and when they fly, their call sounds like "kill-deeer, kill-deeer, kill-deeer!"
