QUESTIONS AND A CONCERT

Have you ever wondered why---
•  does a toaster have a smoking charcoal setting
•  don't we ever hear about a psychic winning the lottery
•  didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes
•  it doesn't gross us out to eat chicken embryos that come from a hen's butt
   --or to drink the excretions of a cow's mammary glands
•  a dog gets angry when you blow on his face but he loves to ride in a car with his head out the window
•  brain cells die but fat cells are forever
•  the sun makes our hair light and our skin dark
•  there is a light in your fridge and not in your freezer (but there is a light in your big freezer)
•  does mineral water that has "trickled through the mountains for centuries"  have a 'sell by' date
•  we are IN a movie but ON television

BLUSTERY DAY

The atmospheric conditions have been uncomfortable lately and today is Windsday.

  A very blustery Windsday, not a mild spring zephyr but the kind of Windsday

 that can blow a piglet right up into the sky like a kite.

 So my morning walk took me away from open and blustery places

 and instead along the path through the Hundred Acre Wood.

 Even the early birds were hunkered down out of the unmild spring zephyr.

 Down by the river I noticed that something--(perhaps a Hefalump?)

 had taken a rather large bite out of a tree.

Another tree had been chewed in half.  Most certainly a sign of Hostile Animals!

 Large chunks of wood were scattered about.

 The fallen trees were all pointing toward the water--

or perhaps the East Pole where the Honey Stealing Woozles live.

 These most certainly look like Woozle tracks.

 Hmmm maybe even a Woozle party. Yes, and they’ve been partying with the ducks.

 This could be a Woozle swimming quickly away.

But after seeing the wide tail and the pointy ears I think it is a beaver.

  Whew!  Not a Hostile Animal after all.

 This must be a New Age beaver.  He is using new fangled; recycled materials for his beaver lodge.

  Or maybe the blue tarp is just temporary to keep out the weather until his roof is finished.

On the way home I saw this sign. 

I’m thinking a cement pizza crust would be even harder than the cardboard kind.

 I have no idea how this is done.

And that is really the end of the story, and I am very tired after that long walk.

  I think I’ll stop here.

PROGRESS REPORT

I'm still working on those six New Year's resolutions. 

Two I'm doing okay on.  One I had to re-write 

mostly because the spirit was willing but the flesh was weak.  

I found a website that proclaimed one could go from a

couch potato to running a 5k in just twelve weeks.  Maybe

some people can but not me.  When running became such a chore

that I hated to get up; I just re-wrote my resolution.  No more 

running.  Running--bleeeccchh.  My knees thank me.

I'm back to walking and occasionally riding bike.

Another plan was to do a little drawing every day.  This turned into

drawing a whole lot of stuff on one page.

Looks like I'll have to go to the next page now.

Another project was to learn a little more about my watercolor pencils

so I can use them for on-site sketches.  I played with layering 

and washes and combinations of colors.

  

I tried using them with permanent drawing pens.

The ones I have, Faber-Castell Albrecht Durer, brand have wonderful intense colors.

But with a little practice the colors can also be soft and misty.  Like a rain-washed street.
