PATTING MYSELF ON THE BACK

I shot this photo during a sunrise last summer to illustrate a poem I wrote.
The sun was streaking through a morning thunderstorm
retreating over the rolling green wheat fields east of our home.

When our library called for photos to be displayed in the new addition to the building,
I entered the wheat field photo along with several others in the contest.

I got a call inviting me and DH to a v.i.p. open house Saturday.
The photos above are the First Second and Third Place overall winners.

Like Zenyatta, I had to settle for second place.  But I'm okay with that.

You certainly captured your summer's various charms by the fantastic photo and shining and vivid words.

Congratulations! Your photo is stunning! I loved the poem...if only we could keep August close, it would be wonderful wouldn't it? But at least we have gorgeous photos like yours to remind us of summer's beauty when the snow is flying and green seems a foreign color.

Congratulations! Is there anything you can't do? I happen to know firsthand that you live in a beautiful corner of the world, and that stunning photo does it complete justice. Go ahead and bask in your own glow!

Congrats. Next summer when we are in ID I will find it, point to it and say, "I know her (well, kinda), she is rather famous." Enjoy the spoils. :D
Your work is a joy. Thanks for sharing with us.

Good thing I was not a judge- I would have slapped all the ribbons on your sunset over the grassy plains. Gorgeous shot, Leenie.
